Lori Vallow may be facing murder charges in Arizona

"It was a, what appeared to be a small body tightly wrapped in black plastic, covered in duct tape," said Ray Hermosillo, a detective with the Rexburg Police Department.

Three days after Rexburg officers testified at Lori Vallow-Daybell's hearing in Idaho, Arizona police announced they'll likely file new charges against her.

Arizona police are looking to file those charges against Lori by December, charging her in her ex-husband's death.

A detective with the Chandler Police Department in Arizona said Lori Vallow-Daybell has always been a person of interest in Charles Vallow's death.

Officers are going through more than 100,000 pieces of digital evidence, and said it may take up to four months to file charges.

Chandler Police tell our Sinclair sister station that bodycam footage of an officer responding to the shooting death of Lori Vallow-Daybell's ex-husband, Charles Vallow, always puzzled them.

Video shows officers confronting Lori's brother, Alex Cox, who told officers in July of 2019 that he shot Charles in self defense.

Chandler police said Lori may play a role in her ex-husband's death.

If charges go to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, one charge against Lori will be conspiracy to commit murder.

Detectives said they have mounting evidence to sort through.

"We are in no rush at this time," Sergeant Jason A. McLimans said. "Subpoenas are out in the case."

Following the body cam footage, police questioned Alex's self-defense claim, and a later moment showing Lori smiling after Charles had been shot.

Chandler police said they'll have plenty of people to question in the coming months, except the one key person in the video.

After claiming self-defense in the deadly shooting, Alex later died from a pulmonary blood clot.

No matter what charges are sent to the DA's office in Arizona, it's up to the prosecutor to decide what could be filed.

In Idaho on Tuesday, Lori waived her right to a preliminary hearing, sending her case straight to district court.

That appearance date has not been set.
